The Gameplay options menu gives an interface to change various miscellaneous settings, mostly but not only the death match flags. Its MENUDEF name is GameplayOptions and it can be summoned with the menu_gameplay console command.
- Teamplay (On/Off)
- teamplay
- If on, players are put into teams.
- Team damage scalar (0.0—1.0 by 0.05 increments)
- teamdamage
- Scale damage inflicted by friendly fire in team play, from no damage to full damage.
- Smart autoaim (Off/On/Never friends/Only monsters)
- sv_smartaim
- Affects how autoaim works.
- Falling damage (Off/Old/Hexen/Strife)
- sv_fallingdamage
- Chooses which falling damage algorithm to use by default. MAPINFO map definitions may override it.
- Drop weapon (Yes/No)
- sv_weapondrop
- Allows or disallows dropping weapons.
- Double ammo (Yes/No)
- sv_doubleammo
- Enables or disables the use of the DoubleAmmoFactor rather than AmmoFactor in the skill definition for the current skill.
- Infinite ammo (Yes/No)
- sv_infiniteammo
- Toggles infinite ammo mode on or off. Firing a weapon does not use up ammo when this is on.
- Infinite inventory (Yes/No)
- sv_infiniteinventory
- Toggles infinite inventory mode on or off. Using an artifact does not remove it from the inventory when this is on.
- No monsters (Yes/No)
- sv_nomonsters
- Enables or disables monsters in the level.
- No monsters to exit (Yes/No)
- sv_killallmonsters
- If on, exiting a level is not possible as long as monsters remain.
- Monsters respawn (Yes/No)
- sv_monsterrespawn
- Allows to enable monster respawning regardless of skill settings.
- No respawn (Yes/No)
- sv_norespawn
- Allows to disable monster respawning regardless of skill settings.
- Items respawn (Yes/No)
- sv_itemrespawn
- Enables or disables item respawning after pickup.
- Big powerups respawn (Yes/No)
- sv_respawnsuper
- Enables or disables respawning of pickups with the INVENTORY.BIGPOWERUP flag.
- Fast monsters (Yes/No)
- sv_fastmonsters
- Allows to enable fast monsters regardless of skill settings.
- Monsters Nightmare Reflexes (Yes/No)
- sv_instantreaction
- Allows monsters to immediately perform their first ranged attack since spawning without having to take a few steps first.
- Degeneration (Yes/No)
- sv_degeneration
- If degeneration is on, players slowly lose health when over 100%, as in Quake.
- Allow autoaim (No/Yes)
- sv_noautoaim
- Allows or disallows autoaim.
- Allow Vertical Bullet Spread (No/Yes)
- sv_novertspread
- Controls whether or not to allow vertical bullet spread for weapons.
- Note that weapons which have vertical bullet spread as part of their original behavior, such as the super shotgun, are unaffected by this option.
- Allow suicide (No/Yes)

- Allows or disallows the use of the kill console command.

- Allows or disallows jumping. "Default" uses the MAPINFO settings, while "off" and "on" override them.
- Allow crouch (Default/Off/On)
- sv_crouch
- Allows or disallows crouching. "Default" uses the MAPINFO settings, while "off" and "on" override them.
- Allow freelook (Default/Off/On)
- sv_freelook
- Allows or disallows looking up and down.
- Default uses the MAPINFO settings, while Off and On override them.
- Allow FOV (No/Yes)
- Allow BFG aiming (No/Yes)
- sv_nobfgaim
- Allows or disallows aiming with the BFG9000. (A common trick consists in aiming at the ground so the ball explodes sooner and opponents have less time to move away from the hitscan tracers.)
- Allow automap (No/Yes)
- sv_noautomap
- Allows or disallows looking at the automap.
- Automap allies (No/Yes)
- sv_noautomapallies
- Selects whether allies are shown on the automap.
- Allow spying (No/Yes)
- sv_disallowspying
- Allows or disallows spying on other players.
- Chasecam cheat (Yes/No)
- sv_chasecam
- Allows or disallows the third-person camera.
- Check ammo for weapon switch (No/Yes)
- sv_dontcheckammo
- Chooses whether having ammunition in your inventory is needed to be able to switch to a weapon.
- Killing Romero kills all his spawns (Yes/No)
- sv_killbossmonst
- This option makes it so the death of the BossBrain kill all monsters created by the BossEye before ending the level, allowing a 100% kill tally on the intermission screen.
- Count monsters in end level sectors (No/Yes)
- sv_nocountendmonst
- This option makes monsters placed in sectors with the dDamage_End type (as used in Doom E1M8) not count towards the total.
Deathmatch settings
- Weapons stay (Yes/No)
- sv_weaponstay
- Lets weapon stay when picked up, allowing other players (or respawned players) to grab them as well.
- Allow powerups (No/Yes)
- sv_noitems
- If set to "no", powerups and artifacts are not spawned on the map.
- Allow health (No/Yes)
- sv_nohealth
- If set to "no", health items are not spawned on the map.
- Allow armor (No/Yes)
- sv_noarmor
- If set to "no", armor items are not spawned on the map.
- Spawn farthest (Yes/No)
- sv_spawnfarthest
- If set to "yes", ZDoom will attempt to respawn players at the spawn point the farthest away from other players.
- Same map (Yes/No)
- sv_samelevel
- If set to "yes", the level is restarted after the exit intermission, instead of moving on to the next map.
- Force respawn (Yes/No)
- sv_forcerespawn
- If enabled, this automatically respawn players after a few seconds instead of letting them wait as long as they want.
- Allow exit (No/Yes)
- sv_noexit
- If exit is disallowed, activating an exit line (switch or teleporter) kills the player instead; the level can only be left once the time limit or frag limit hits.
- Barrels respawn (Yes/No)
- sv_barrelrespawn
- Allows barrels, or any other actor calling A_BarrelDestroy to respawn after destruction.
- Respawn protection (Yes/No)
- sv_respawnprotect
- If enabled, this gives a few seconds of invulnerability to respawning players in order to prevent "spawn camping".
- Lose frag if fragged (Yes/No)
- sv_losefrag
- If this is on, a player's frag count decreases whenever said player is killed.
- Keep frags gained (Yes/No)
- sv_keepfrags
- If on, players keep their frag count from one map to the next.
- No team switching (Yes/No)
- sv_noteamswitch
- If on, players cannot change teams in a teamplay match after the map has started.
Cooperative Settings
- Spawn multiplayer weapons (No/Yes)
- sv_noweaponspawn
- By setting it to "no", this allows to disable spawning of multiplayer-only weapons in cooperative mode, with the assumption that these extra weapons are there for deathmatch only.
- Lose entire inventory (Yes/No)
- sv_cooploseinventory
- If set to "yes", a player's inventory is reset when respawning after death.
- Keep keys (No/Yes)
- sv_cooplosekeys
- If set to "no", a player respawns without keys.
- Keep weapons (No/Yes)
- sv_cooploseweapons
- If set to "no", a player respawns with a pistol start.
- Keep armor (No/Yes)
- sv_cooplosearmor
- If set to "no", a player respawns without armor.
- Keep powerups (No/Yes)
- sv_cooplosepowerups
- If set to "no", a player respawns without active powerups.
- Keep ammo (No/Yes)
- sv_cooploseammo
- If set to "no", a player respawns without ammo.
- Lose half ammo (Yes/No)
- sv_coophalveammo
- If set to "yes", a player's ammo count is halved when respawning.
- Spawn where died (Yes/No)
- sv_samespawnspot
- If set to "yes", a player respawns at the place of death (unless it was in an instant-death sector) instead of at the player start.
