A skin in ZDoom refers to the ability to change the sounds and sprites used by the player avatars without altering the actor logic. The implementation is a compatible with the Doom Legacy implementation and uses the S_SKIN lump. To prevent conflicts with sprite or sound names, each skin archive has all its lumps put in a unique namespace; for this reason skins must be in separate files from actual mod content.
