Freedoom is a total conversion project for the Doom engine intending to provide a full set of replacement IWADs under a MiniWikipediaLogoIcon.pngmodified BSD license. Freedoom requires a Boom-compatible, limit-removing source port to work as its levels are not all compatible with vanilla Doom.

Three different Freedoom IWADs exist: "Freedoom Phase 1" that corresponds to Ultimate Doom, "Freedoom Phase 2" that aims for compatibility with Doom II and Final Doom PWADs, and finally "FreeDM" which is a Doom II IWAD geared exclusively for multiplayer.

Although the Freedoom website does not mention ZDoom for political and ideological reasons, accepting only to list ports licensed under the terms of the MiniWikipediaLogoIcon.pngGPL, the IWADs are perfectly compatible with ZDoom.
