GZChaos - A chaos mod for Doom
DOWNLOAD HERE Requires GZDoom 4.10.0
GZChaos is a "randomizer" mod of sorts that draws inspiration from the Grand Theft Auto chaos mods. The premise is simple.
Every 30 seconds, the mod will roll an effect. This is visualized by the green bar on top of the screen: https://imgur.com/a/jrwrGyZ
And whatever it rolls, you must deal with: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
Some effects are timed, some are "instant", and some last for the whole level.
Is this mod fair?
Lol, no. If you've come to this mod looking for fairness, you're in the wrong place. The point is that it's "chaos", and chaos is on no one's side.
Is this mod stable?
I can't promise that. Due to the nature of this mod, I can not promise that any and every combination it rolls will still allow progress, and some effects are purposefully made to screw you over. However, I will put in effort to make sure the mod never crashes.

This is a nice way to spend a couple of hours if you want to just play something fun and stupid.

While the mod is VERY much not my personal thing, I tested it for the author and it's very well done and polished. If it's your type of thing, you should 110% check it out

I've gave this a go with a couple of maps and I got to say, this is great for replaying familiar mapsets. I do have one suggestion for GZChaos, and that's having the ability to disable certain effects; specifically, the morphing effects for the player. Having the player morph into a different character might break some gameplay mods, and I'm not sure if GZChaos already disables the effect if it doesn't detect the default player class.

Over 200 effects are now supported.
Settings have been added to adjust for comfort.
Seeded RNG supported.

- Fixed memory buffer oversight. This system is in place to prevent effects from re-rolling too close together. By default, GZChaos will remember the last 20 effects you've rolled to help make sure you get different effects. This can be increased or decreased in the settings.
- Prevent "Player commits suicide" on seeded runs. This is a statistical inevitability that this will get rolled, and it sort of defeats the point of playing a seeded run if there's a guaranteed dead end. The fake one will still roll.
- Fixed the crash @BeachThunder experienced and the one Icarus ran into on his stream.
- Added a "Max effect duration" slider in options. This will cap certain effects by the minute. The average effect duration is 3 minutes, but some do exceed that amount. This setting is present for cowards those who "get it" for certain effects. Leave off to use the default duration I set.

Seconding the "400 error" drom dropbox in the latest link, and since the first-post's link was updated to that latest one, I'm guessing more than a few people haven't "been able" to download it.
The july 18th link does work, so at least a recent-ish older version is available.
